Growing up I was always told that I should strive to lead and not to follow. At the time it was unclear to me what people meant when they said this to me.
I was under the misconception that they meant to tell others what to do instead if being told what to do. I now know through mentorship that this is the wrong approach for leadership.
Leadership, simply put, is the pursuit of being the guide for your own life. The capability to take on the risk of taking charge and making something of yourself.
Being a leader does not always have to even be in a team setting!
BE THE LEADING ROLE IN YOUR LIFE. Align your daily habits with whatever you’re aiming to achieve. Leadership is personal.
Are you leading your life in the right direction? If so, are those around you doing the same? These are the kind of questions a young adult should ask themselves as they pursue their dreams.
At FA Santt, having an individual approach towards developing the leaders of tomorrow is the very reason why this Academy began.
I’ll leave you with the words my mentor shared with me when I was trying to determine the kind of leader I wanted to be:
“How can someone lead others if they do not know how to properly be the lead in their own life?”
